When the lights went out for Sunday's British Grand Prix, pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel in his Red Bull RB5 pulled away from Rubens Barrichello's Brawn in P2, and just kept going. Stretching his edge by as much as a second a lap, Vettel went on to win in a laugher. Teammate Mark Webber got ahead of Barrichello during the first round of pit stops and likewise had no trouble staying ahead thereafter to finish in second.

The BP Ford Abu Dhabi twosome of driver Mikko Hirvonen and co-driver Jarmo Lehtinen won the Acropolis Rally of Greece on Sunday, round seven of the 2009 World Rally Championship, after a great drive through some of the toughest conditions of the season for their Focus RS WRC. Citroen Junior Team pair Sebastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia came in second and Hirvonen/Lehtinen teammates Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila finished third.

Irish sensation Darren McNamara in the Falken/Sears Auto Center Saturn Sky claimed a long-overdue first Formula D win on Saturday night at Wall Speedway, New Jersey, eliminating Vaughn Gittin Jr. and the Falken/Ford Racing 2010 Mustang GT in the Final to triumph in Round Three of the 2009 season. Tyler McQuarrie in the Falken Nissan 350Z took third, McQuarrie's first podium of the year, after dispatching a resurgent Ken Gushi in his RS*R Scion tC.

Records were smashed in the second round of the 2009 Redline: Time Attack! championship on Sunday, as Billy Johnson in the FX Motorsports Acura NSX demolished by some three seconds the Willow Springs track mark that was set just the previous weekend, registering a flying lap of 1:18.555. His time was good enough to win the Unlimited-RWD class, best the entire Unlimited run group, and earn the distinction of Round Two event champion.

Tony Schumacher raced to his third Top Fuel victory of the season on Sunday at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals. Del Worsham and Mike Edwards also were winners on Bristol Dragway. Schumacher crossed the finish line in 3.857 seconds at 310.91 mph in his U.S. Army dragster to edge Doug Kalitta, whose Kalitta Motorsports dragster trailed at 3.879 at 303.43. It was Schumacher's third victory at the legendary Tennessee drag strip and the 59th of his career.
