In front of possibly the largest tuner gathering at the erstwhile California Speedway since the JGTC rolled through in late 2004, Gary Sheehan in the Unlimited AWD GST Motorsports Subaru Impreza led competitors from all classes in a successful last-ditch effort to be crowned Overall Champion at Round 4 of the 2008 Redline: Time Attack series. On the Fontana, California track's Auto Competition Course - also known as the "roval" - in the final session of July 20th, Sheehan laid down an untouchable 1:38.395 for the victory, some three seconds faster than the next closest time.

Round Three of the 2008 Formula Drift Championship was billed as the "Gauntlet", but it could have just as been fittingly named "Beat the Heat". Don't get us wrong - Englishtown's Raceway Park Road Course brought ample challenge, but the hot and humid weather conditions that greeted the nation's top sliders reached 80 degrees, and humidity made the real-feel somewhere 15 to 20 degrees more uncomfortable; a very real competition factor when you consider drivers are in full driving suits for stretches up to half an hour at a time.

BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica collected what some may say is a long-overdue first Formula 1 victory this past Sunday in Montréal, Canada, after a pit row error by McLaren's Lewis Hamilton took himself and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen out of the race. Kubica's performance at a track where he crashed hard last year led a BMW 1-2, with teammate Nick Heidfeld coming home in second place. Red Bull Renault's David Coulthard rounded out the top three, pocketing his first points of the season and first podium in years.
