Theory Communication and Design teamed up with an industry icon to build this one-of-a-kind Porsche 996 Turbo on behalf of Mobil 1 for the 2008 SEMA Show. Vincent Wong from iForged wheels is no stranger to building high-profile show cars, and this year has taken his composition to a new level. Working closely with Theory over the past several months, the partnership has what it thinks will be one of the most bad-ass vehicles to bow at the automotive specialty products trade event.
Highlights from Wong's efforts include a complete Porsche 997 TechArt GT Street wide-body conversion and a BASF Glasurit Porsche 997 GT3 RS Green paint job. The cockpit has been outfitted with an MA carbon fiber interior kit, GMG color-matched six-point roll cage, and custom stereo install with Rockford Fosgate components by Custom Creative Car Audio and Motorsports.
Under hood, the water-cooled motivator has been augmented with an Artisan 650HP Turbo upgrade package with Softronic ECU programming, Evolution Motorsports EVOMS intake system, and Spec Clutch lightweight flywheel and Stage 3+ clutch. The fenders also partly conceal more sweetness in the form of 15-inch front and rear Brembo brake upgrades and a custom set of iForged 20x8.5-inch and 20x12.5-inch Neo wheels, which are shod in Toyo Proxes T1-R 245/30 20 and 345/25 20 tires.
Wong, the owner of iForged, explained the logic behind the motif used to engineer the Mobil 1 996. "I have always believed in building cars following the 'show and go' concept. Even though a car looks beautiful, it should also be able to back up its good looks. Every modification on the car has a purpose, and at the end of the day I hope people will be able to appreciate the hard work and long hours that have gone into building our one-of-a-kind creation."
This impressive piece of machinery will be unveiled and showcased in the Mobil 1 booth at SEMA (#25173). For more, please visit www.Mobil1.com and www.theoryconcept.com.
