With just four weeks to go before the opening of the SEMA Show, the premier aftermarket trade event in the world, the trickle of project car sneak peeks has picked up to a steady stream. In the last 10 days or so news of some truly inspired builds have piqued our curiosity and sent us looking for as much info as we could glean on the soon-to-debut projects. Continue reading to exploit the fruits of our hunts.
Street Concepts Hyundai Genesis Coupe
The Street Concepts offering rounds out a tuned trio of Vegas-bound Genesis Coupes, Hyundai also handing out one of the RWD sport compacts each to Rhys Millen Racing (click here) and HKS (click here). Unlike the other cars, however, the SC Genesis will rock the naturally-aspirated 3.8-liter V6 bullet instead of the turbo inline-4 mill, and as such has been outfitted with a custom cold-air intake and Magnaflow exhaust.
Further tweakage consists of a modified suspension, Brembo brakes, and 19-inch Volks, but really this car seems to be more about aesthetic presence than establishing any kind of performance bar. Going for a stealth fighter motif, the Genesis Coupe rocks black camo, tinted lamps fore and aft, an APR rear wing, and custom grille. The look is completed in the cabin with a pair of Cobra seats donning black suede accents, an Infinity sound system, and carbon-fiber embellishments.
Toyo Tires Nissan R35 GT-R
Part of a six-vehicle booth contingent that includes customs like a 1931 Studebaker and a 800-horsepower Bentley from Japan, we expect the Toyo R35 GT-R to attract more than a few interested eyeballs. Put together by Bulletproof Automotive, the AWD Nissan supercar will sport Limited Edition BBS LM-DBK-P wheels wrapped in Proxes R888 D.O.T.-approved competition rubber, a 285/35ZR20 up front and a 315/30ZR20 on the rear. The GT-RR.com 2009 Nissan GT-R (as Toyo calls it) will also boast high-grade carbon fiber components, an Amuse Super Tough Titanium (STT) exhaust, and Endless mono-block six-piston front and rear brake calipers.
Toyo Tires Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X
While its GT-R may be the more prestigious platform, the Toyo 2008 Evo X has its own impressive legacy, and a wicked green skin to boot, the same emerald hue from the Porsche GT3 RS. The rally-bred, Vivid Racing-built Mitsubishi also features a 2.0L 4B11 that has been tuned for an impressive 650 horsepower, put to the ground via 265/35R18 Toyo Proxes R1R extreme performance tires wrapped around 18x10-inch AME Tracer 02 wheels. A complement of Valdi aero components completes the exterior upgrades.
