Redline: Time Attack!

Tyler McQuarrie and the CWest/Brian Crower Honda S2000 wowed 'em again at a Redline: Time Attack!, this time setting the pace at Round 3 Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, and earning both Unlimited RWD and Overall champion hardware, the second time he has done so this season. Second place overall went to Unlimited AWD victor Gary Sheehan in the GST Impreza, while third was U-AWD runner-up Luke Russell in the Top Speed Impreza.

Miller was in the throes of summer heat for the event, held in conjunction with GT Live, with temps cranked up to the 90s and the air completely devoid of moisture. New to competitors and spectators in Utah, organizers invited the top 7 finishers in each class to participate in a Super Session and earn more championship points.

The battle between McQuarrie and Russell was anticipated, particularly since the Factor x Acura NSX would not be making the comp, but almost didn't happen after the Top Speed car suffered mechanical issues for the second consecutive race. The bugs were worked out when it counted, however.

Behind the wheel of the CWest/BC S2000, McQuarrie was running 1:35.5s all morning long on Saturday. In fact, he set a blazing lap time of 1:35.307 in his second lap of the first day, eclipsing the previous record set by Tanner Foust of 1:37.541 in the Crawford Performance STi.

Round 4 returns Redline: Time Attack! to California over July 19-20 for a contest at California Speedway in Fontana.

BOTI convened at a hot and steamy MIR south of our nation's capital for the fourth installment of its nine-event 2008 arc. While details about the contest are still materializing, we can report several class champions, including Leslie Armendariz and her Scion tC getting by the Clutchmasters Honda Insight of Norris Prayoonto in Pro-Stock category.

In Pro-FWD, Marty Ladwig and his Lucas Oil Chevy Cobalt emerged victorious over a streaking Christian Rado and his World Racing Scion tC, while in Pro-Import Kenny Tran piloted his Jotech tC to another finals win. In sportsman racing activity, Jonathan Reynolds drove his Acura Integra past Kevin Van Natten's Dodge Neon SRT-4 for the Street-Comp crown.

Battle now heads back West in a team-up with Formula DRIFT at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway over the weekend of July 11 and 12 for some midsummer night racing. Look for a complete recap of BOTI MIR competition in the hours ahead.
