At the SEMA IAS Show last month in Atlantic City, Performance Import Trends released their newest aftermarket performance offering for sport compact and import performance fans – the BCU+. The all new BCU+ (Boost Controller Unit) from Performance Import Trends is the first boost controller to feature multiple stages of boost, a built in turbo timer, boost gauge, voltmeter and two 12 Volt outputs.

PIT uses the latest technology to give the user multiple ways of controlling and monitoring boost levels. With High and Low stages of boost and adjustable gain you can tune the boost to switch depending on track or road conditions. Set your high boost setting for the track, and then quickly and safely switch to a low stage with the touch of a button for the drive home.

The BCU+ also incorporates an Automatic and Manual Turbo Timer to let your engine cool down after a run. The automatic setting will free you from baby-sitting your car while it cools off and the manual option allows you the flexibility to retain control of the duration of the engine shutoff period. Both allow users to take their keys from the ignition and leave the car running.

Also, by using the electrical Outputs you can use the BCU+ to control any 12V DC source, including a nitrous kit and/or intercooler spray. In addition, the easy to read LCD screen will let you know exactly what’s going on with your engine when you need to know it the most. COMPACT DESIGN

The BCU+ comes in a 3” by 4” compact design and uses one of the smallest solenoid for easier installation both inside the car and under the hood.

VIEWING

An LCD screen is used to view all of the functions and settings on the BCU+ and features a black background with colored numbers and text.

EASY BOOST SET-UP

Two individual boost levels can easily be set by simply turning the Hi and Lo knobs.

BOOST SAFETY

The BCU+ has multiple boost safety features. The Warn feature will alert the driver when over boost has occurred by changing the LCD display background color to RED, and sounding an audible alarm (when the sound option is on). It will also limit over boost by initiating the LIMITER sequence. When initiated the LIMITER feature modifies the opening of the solenoid based on the preset Limiter % and preset Boost. EXAMPLE: If your boost amount setting is 10.0 PSI, and your LIMITER setting is 75% when your boost reaches 10.1 PSI, the unit initiates the LIMITER sequence and limits the output to 7.5 PSI. Use the Last Boost View to display the highest boost reached since the ignition was turned on. PEAK Boost setting is used to record the highest boost ever and will not be erased when the ignition is turned OFF.

TURBO TIMERS

The BCU+ features both a Manual and an Auto Turbo Timer. The Manual feature will allow the engine to run for a specified time after the key as been removed from the ignition. The Auto Timer option will allow the engine to run for an automatically determined amount of time by using voltage variation after the key has been removed from the ignition.

CHANNEL OUTPUTS

The PIT boost controller can be programmed to activate and deactivate electrical components when specified criteria are met. When initiated, the outputs will give a Positive 12V DC output to turn electrical components ON and OFF. EXAMPLE: You could have the BCU turn ON a nitrous system at 0 PSI of boost and turn it OFF at 5 PSI of boost.
